AMD Reports Record $9.2 Billion Revenue Driven by Ryzen 7 9800X3D Success
AMD has once again surpassed its own expectations, posting impressive results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2025 (Q3 FY2025), driven by strong PC sales powered by the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
Ryzen 7 9800X3D Boosts AMD to Record Earnings
The company reported total revenue of $9.2 billion, marking a 36% year-over-year increase.
The main driver of this performance was the client segment, which reached a record $2.8 billion, representing a 46% year-over-year growth. This success is directly linked to the huge demand for Ryzen processors, with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D taking center stage.
This CPU, praised as the fastest for gaming thanks to its 3D V-Cache technology, has helped AMD strengthen its dominance in the consumer market. In fact, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D currently holds the top spot as the best-selling CPU on Amazon. AMD’s lineup continues to dominate the charts, consistently outperforming Intel processors.
Strong Performance in Data Center and Gaming Divisions
Dr. Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, credited the record performance to the strong “demand for our high-performance EPYC and Ryzen processors and Instinct AI accelerators.”
The data center division generated $4.3 billion, up 22% year-over-year, thanks to the success of EPYC 9005 CPUs and MI350 GPUs.
The gaming segment also saw major growth, reaching $1.3 billion, an increase of 181%, driven by Radeon GPUs and semi-custom product revenue.
Overall, AMD reported net income of $1.243 billion, up 61% from last year. Clearly, AMD has much to celebrate this quarter.
In other news, AMD has received approval to export its Instinct MI308 accelerators to the Chinese market — a move that could shift the competitive balance amid the ongoing tech rivalry between the United States and China.
