AMD RX 470 and RX 460 Pricing Revealed

When AMD first launched Polaris, they revealed that the lineup would stretch from the $100 market all the way to $300. The first card we got was the RX 480 which came in at about $200-$230. Later on, we got the RX 470 and RX 460 which did not have their prices revealed. This all changes today with the latest leak.

According to the source, the RX 470 will have an MSRP of $149 USD while the RX 460 will be even cheaper at $99 USD. As has been revealed, the RX 470 will feature 2048 stream processors, just 10% fewer than the RX 480, while the RX 460 features a meagre 896.

These prices come as no surprise as the Polaris lineup was expected to hit the entire range from $100 to $300 with the initial lineup. The RX 470 will likely offer the most value for the three, with around 90% of the RX 480 for only 75% of the price. The RX 460 is a bit more of a raw deal with the RX 470 offering 100%+ performance but at only 50% more. The dilemma facing the RX 460 is same as any low-end GPU, with manufacturing costs nearly the same as it larger siblings, prices simply can’t be dropped enough.

Now that we know that AMD will be working off of this price range, the big question is what will be the $300 offering sitting above the RX 480? Vega is set arrive in late 2016 to early 2017 so that can’t be it. This leaves the rumoured RX 490 which may be a dual Polaris 10 or perhaps a new Polaris GPU altogether. What do you think of AMD’s lineup?
