AMD RX 9000 Prices Drop as Gamers Turn Away
The new AMD Radeon RX 9000 graphics card lineup is facing a cold reception from gamers, who have decided to “turn their backs” on these models because of their high prices.
The lack of demand has left retailers with no choice but to apply strong discounts to try to sell these graphics cards. The RX 9000 series appears to be losing ground to Nvidia’s options.
Weak Demand Forces Price Cuts
The Radeon RX 9000 series, based on the RDNA 4 architecture, was originally designed to offer a competitive balance between performance and price. However, external factors such as higher VRAM memory costs and other component increases pushed final prices much higher than expected. In key markets like Japan, prices rose between 30% and 40%. This placed mid-range models like the RX 9070 XT close to 800 dollars, which many consider too expensive for the performance offered.
Many PC enthusiasts, who usually invest in the latest technology, are choosing to keep their current graphics cards or look at second-hand options. This sends a clear message to manufacturers.
With stock building up, stores have started taking action on their own by lowering prices. In several regions, RX 9000 models have seen price drops between 15% and 20%. This forced adjustment shows that while AMD and Nvidia may focus on models that speed up AI tasks, the consumer market cannot support the same level of price inflation.
