AMD Ryzen 8000 Series Info Leaks!

Given the fact that we’re currently on the Ryzen 5000 series, you’d be forgiven for thinking that something like Ryzen 8000 seemed like, relatively speaking, quite a long way away from even being whispered about. – I mean, we’re not even expecting the Ryzen 6000 series to arrive until late next year. Following a report via Videocardz, however, information has (somehow) already leaked regarding the Ryzen 8000 series and what we might potentially expect to see from it.

AMD Ryzen 8000?

Now, usually, when news like this appears, we suggest that you take it with a grain of salt. However, for something looking this far into the future, consider this full warning that the information coming up likely requires a whole shovel’s worth. – So, with that little disclaimer out the way, the information is suggesting that the AMD Ryzen 8000 series of processors will be broken up into two separate codenames. Namely, ‘Granite Ridge’ and ‘Strix Point’.

Starting with ‘Granite Ridge’, it is said that this platform will be the more generic AMD Ryzen release with it transitioning to their Zen5 architecture as well as being based on the 3nm node design platform. Albeit, we should note that 3nm is expected to be introduced with the Ryzen 7000 series initially.

What is ‘Strix Point’ then? Well, in a nutshell, and in so far as we can tell, this will be AMD’s APU-style processors, with them seemingly featuring a combination of the Zen5 architecture as well as Zen4D. The latter is expected to handle the graphical aspect of things, while the former provides the main workload horsepower. It could also potentially indicate the ‘Big.Little’ core design that AMD is expected to have transitioned to by this point.

What Do We Think?

If you were to hold a gun to our head and demand that we tell you when Ryzen 8000 would arrive, at this point, our best guess would be something in the region of 2025 or 2026. So, in terms of the technological calendar, we’re light-years away from this actually being even relatively relevant. On the plus side, however, if this information is proven correct, then AMD is very much in the process of not just looking forward to their next Ryzen release, but even as far as two generations after that!
