AMD Ryzen “Pheonix” Laptop APU’s First Benchmarks Revealed

Benchmarks for 2 of AMD’s soon-to-release Ryzen laptop Processors featuring the new 780m RDNA3 IGPU have been leaked, and both Ryzen 9 and 7 with good performance gains over the last generation. Featuring Benchmarks for the Ryzen 7 7840HS and the Ryzen 9 7940HS on BiliBili by user ‘Golden Pig Upgrade’.

Ryzen 9 7940HS

The Ryzen 9 7940HS Features 8 Cores 16 Threads a boost clock of up to 5.2GHz and a 35-54W TDP and contains integrated AMD Radeon 780M Graphics.

Golden Pig Upgrade tested the 7940HS on 3DMark Time spy extreme paired with 32GB of dual channel DDR5 at 5600MHz. The chip was tested in both 35w and 54w modes With the above image showing 54w mode. The chip had a CPU score of 11343 in Time Spy Extreme boosting to 5.2ghz a good jump against the previous generation Ryzen 9 6900HX which has average scores of around 7000. The integrated 780m also gains a small improvement with a score of 2791, compared to the last generation 680m averaging around 2600, the 780M does however have the advantage of faster DDR5 Memory.

The second image here shows testing on the 35W mode on the same 32GB DDR5 Setup. Here we can see the CPU score has dropped considerably down to 8448 and the graphics score down to 2486 and boosts to just a bit below 5.2ghz. In both modes, the temperatures reached within 1-2°C away from 80°C at full wack which is still a good 20°C from the maximum operating temperature of 100°C.

Ryzen 7 7840HS

The Ryzen 7 7840HS features 8 Cores 16 Threads, A boost clock up to 5.1 GHz and the same 35-54W TDP of the Ryzen 9 and Radeon 780M Graphics.

Now unlike the Ryzen 9 Golden Pig Upgrade has only shown a cine-bench score rather than a 3DMark Score, and hasn’t included any information on the Ram specification or the score on the different power modes so I will assume for the 54W power mode. In Cinebench R23 the chip scored 16854 on the multicore test which again compared to the Ryzen 9 6900HX which according to scored 14670.

Now the keen-eyed of you may have noticed the multi-core score is blurred out, and Golden Pig Upgrade claims the score should theoretically be 1800 points but it is not so believed the score that is blurred is incorrect.

AMD’s Ryzen Pheonix APU laptops are set to launch later this year and If you would like to learn more about these chips you can on the AMD site for the 7840HS here and 7940HS here.
