AMD set to Bundle AIO Liquid Coolers with Ryzen Threadripper CPU

Liquid Cooled Threadripper

AMD already have competitors worried with the upcoming launch of Ryzen Threadripper. The Threadripper name belongs to a group of multi core powerhouse CPU’s. The 12 core/ 24 thread 1920X and the 16 core/32 thread 1950X are set to now include AIO CPU Coolers right out of the box.

Why AIO over Air Cooler?

AMD has included the All In One Coolers in the box on these specific models for 3 main reasons. Of course, the first one being that it will offer premium performance and cooling solutions right from the get go. However, the main reason is due to the higher TDP emitted by the 1920X/ 1950X which is currently rumoured to be 125W and 155W respectively. The issue with higher TDP means that it requires more power to operate, which of course is an issue.

By combining an AIO, AMD can ensure that the CPU runs much cooler with more consistency. Effectively eliminating the worry of the CPU reaching its peak TDP threshold. The last reason is down to compatibility. Unfortunately, with new CPU’s come new sockets to power them. Currently, the compatibility for third-party coolers for the TR4 Socket is very sparse. The solution by AMD is simple by including the AIO so that Threadripper owners won’t be left without adequate cooling options.

Benefits of AIO

The benefits of a Liquid Cooler extends to more than compatibility and running efficiency. Of course, there are extra benefits from quieter operation, low/ stable running temperatures and perhaps the most important one is overclocking. The 1920X runs at 3.5GHz and will run at a stable 4.0GHz boost clock over 12 cores. The 1950X is a notch lower at 3.4GHz but will also boost to 4.0GHz over 16 cores.

AMD have bundled AIO coolers with previous CPU’s before

Cost and Availability

The Threadripper line up will be available to purchase approximately around August 10th. Of course, further confirmation of this will follow in due time. The 1920X will retail for $799 and the 1950X will retail for $999. This makes the Processors very enticing, combined with the included AIO right out of the box, do we have another upset on the cards for Intel?
