AMD‘s latest Strix Point processors, based on the Zen 5 architecture, are poised to enter the mini-PC market in October. Although Strix Point laptops featuring these processors have already hit the market, mini-PCs have yet to be released.
According to AOOSTAR, a manufacturer closely associated with AMD, the company has been preparing to integrate the Ryzen AI 300 series APUs into their mini-PCs. However, the delay in the release is due to AMD not yet supplying these new processors to mini-PC makers. AOOSTAR has confirmed that their motherboards are ready, but they are still waiting for AMD to provide the Zen 5 processors to move forward with production.
This delay has kept potential buyers in anticipation, especially those interested in upgrading their computing systems with the latest technology. The Strix Point mini-PCs are expected to support SODIMM memory, allowing users to upgrade their RAM, unlike the soldered memory found in current Strix Point laptops.
AOOSTAR hinted that their GEM13 mini-PC might be the first to feature these new processors, positioning it as a significant upgrade in the mini-PC market. With the October release window now anticipated, tech enthusiasts are eager to see how these new processors will perform in a compact form factor.
