AMD to Raise GPU Prices; $20 More for 8GB Models and $40 More for 16GB Versions
Some manufacturers have already announced price increases due to the current shortage of memory chips. Among them is AMD, which plans to raise prices not only for its graphics cards but also for its Ryzen processors.
Graphics cards use VRAM, a type of memory that has recently seen significant price hikes. Because of this, AMD confirmed it will increase prices for its GPUs, which are sold to card manufacturers together with the necessary memory kits.
AMD Price Increases: $20 for 8 GB and $40 for 16 GB Models
According to Board Channels, several brands that produce AMD GPUs have warned distributors that prices will rise by the end of 2025. Specifically, the increase will be $20 for 8 GB models and $40 for 16 GB models.
It is still unclear which exact models will be affected, but based on current memory costs, it is likely the Radeon RX 9000 Series and other recent models will see higher prices as existing stock is replaced.
Reports also indicate that no new AMD graphics cards are expected to launch in 2026. This may be due to the ongoing memory shortage and the resulting higher production costs, which are likely to affect retail prices.
As a result, we will probably see the same Radeon cards from 2025 sold at higher prices throughout 2026.
In other news, soaring memory prices driven by AI demand are causing a massive drop in motherboard sales, with major brands like MSI and Asus hit hard.
