AMD has launched Radeon Anti-Lag 2, a new technology designed to reduce input lag in competitive gaming. Unlike its predecessor, this version requires direct game integration, similar to NVIDIA Reflex. The first game to support this feature is Counter-Strike 2, which is now available with this enhancement.
Previously, AMD’s Anti-Lag was an in-driver solution. However, Radeon Anti-Lag 2 requires game developers to integrate it directly into their games. This approach aims to offer more precise and effective lag reduction, improving the gaming experience for competitive players.
Counter-Strike 2 is the first game to feature Radeon Anti-Lag 2. This integration helps reduce input lag significantly, providing players with a more responsive and smoother gaming experience. The choice of Counter-Strike 2 is strategic, considering its popularity and the demand for low-latency performance in such competitive games.
AMD’s previous version, Anti-Lag+, faced issues as it caused bans in games like Counter-Strike 2 due to anti-cheat systems recognizing it as a cheat tool. AMD had to remove Anti-Lag+ from its drivers. Now, with Anti-Lag 2, AMD has taken a different approach by partnering with game developers to integrate the technology directly into the game code.
Radeon Anti-Lag 2 is compatible with AMD’s RDNA GPUs, specifically the RX 5000, RX 6000, and RX 7000 series. AMD plans to collaborate with more developers to bring this technology to a wider range of games, aiming to enhance the overall gaming experience across various genres.
The new technology aligns the CPU and GPU more effectively, reducing input latency and offering a smoother gaming experience. This improvement is crucial for competitive gamers who need quick and accurate responses during gameplay.
