Analysts Predict Strong Sales for Nintendo Switch 2 in First Year, Exceeding the Original
The Nintendo Switch 2 is clearly a success, with the global audience, particularly in Japan, enjoying the console and the available titles.
However, what are the sales potential of the console in its first fiscal year? Analysts have started making predictions.
Nintendo Switch 2 Sales Predictions
As reported on Twitter by user Stealth40K, Asia Nikkei shared the opinions of several analysts regarding Nintendo Switch 2’s sales.
According to analysts Hideki Yasuda from Toyo and Zhai Yijia from UBS, they estimate that Nintendo Switch 2 will sell 6 million units during its first month.
Long-Term Sales Projections
Looking ahead, Yasuda believes that Nintendo Switch 2 will reach 20 million units sold by the end of March 2026. On the other hand, Zhai predicts that the console will come just under that, at 18 million units. Both analysts also agree that the console will be difficult to find worldwide until the spring of 2026.
These numbers would exceed the sales of the original Nintendo Switch, which, after more than a year, had sold between 17 and 18 million units, according to official Nintendo data. Of course, the sales results of the Nintendo Switch 2 will also depend on how many units the company is able to produce and distribute globally.
Potential tariffs from Trump could negatively affect sales. Additionally, the console’s library of titles will be crucial in convincing more users to buy the Nintendo Switch 2 in the coming months.
