Not so long ago, HIS presented another IceQ GPU based on the HD 6870, today, HIS is adding yet another card to their series with the HD 6970 Eyefinity RTS.
Featuring the base specs of AMD’s reference design, the clock speed of 880 MHz and the 2GB of GDDR5 memory at 5.50 GHz, the most interesting feature is the RTS, abbreviation for Read To See.
RTS allows the Eyefinity one of the three monitors setup to be connected through HDMI 1.4a port instead of the mini-DisplayPort, making the hard to find dongle not required anymore, as most of the modern screens feature HDMI connectivity.
Being from the IceQ series, the HD 6970 is fitted with the series’ cooler, identical to the HD 6870 IceQ model, although as the most and very attentive eyes will have noticed, the PCB of the 6970 is longer than the 6870 (see for yourself).
The connectivity is also the same as the previous version, that is two DVI, one HDMI 1.4a and two mini-DisplayPorts.
The price and availability haven’t been announced yet.
