Another portable hard drive, from Transcend this time.

Okay, either we’re all becoming clumsy, or companies really want to protect our data, because this new USB3.0 capable portable hard drive is shock resistant too. This one, on the other hand, is called “Storejet 25A” and it’s from Transcend Information.

Now I’ll admit that most of the naming that I find when writing these article are quite questionable, but what we’re usually looking for in a portable hard drive are its features, which become more and more standard as we go along.

Available both in USB3.0 and USB2.0, it presents a standard 5GB/s speed on compatible hardware (USB3.0 only), and a “One Touch Auto-Backup button” which requires the program of the same name can be found on it as well. Although a program called “Transcend Elite backup and security” software is already included.

No driver is required, neither is an external power adapter as it is powered via USB, and there’s also a power saving sleep mode. Another thing you’ll find on it is a LED power / data transfer activity indicator.

To protect your data, a 256-bit AES file and folder encryption is included in the Transcend Elite software, and to back up your investment, it comes with a three year limited warranty.

Measuring 130.5mm x 80.1mm x 15.0mm (5.1” x 3.1” x 0.6”), and weighing only 182 g (0.4 lb), this can in fact be called a proper portable hard drive.

This unit is available in the sizes of 500GB, 750GB and 1TB all of which either in USB3.0 (25A3) or USB2.0 (25A2), but no price has been given yet.
