Antec GSK Gold V2 850W Power Supply Review

The Antec GSK ATX 3.1 850W power supply is the latest in a long line of PSUs from Antec, which have a solid reputation for reliability and build quality. I think I’ve still got some Antec PSUs from 10 years ago that are still going strong in some systems here! While not the most extreme model in their lineup, it is designed to hit that sweet spot of both what most gamers actually need and what they can reasonably afford. Featuring certified compliance for the new ATX 3.1 standard and an 80 PLUS Gold efficiency rating, but also a Cybernetics Platinum rating, users can expect exceptional power stability, competitive energy efficiency, and low operating noise. With Japanese Capacitors, an 850W power output, and ATX 3.1, it’s perfect for those running high-end graphics cards, such as the RTX 5080 and the AMD 9070 XT.

Antec GSK ATX3.1 850W

The GSK ATX 3.1 850W V2 is packed with advanced features designed to enhance its stability, cooling, and ease of installation. A cornerstone feature is the PhaseWave™ Design, which utilises a server-class LLC topology combined with synchronous rectification and a DC-DC converter design. This sophisticated circuitry ensures unparalleled power delivery efficiency and rock-solid stability for all system components. To manage heat and noise, the unit is equipped with a quiet 120mm fluid-dynamic bearing (FDB) fan, which is further managed by the Zero RPM Manager. This keeps the fan completely off during low loads for silent operation, only activating the fan when thermal sensors deem it necessary for optimal cooling. Furthermore, the unit’s fully modular cable management system allows users to connect only the essential cables, reducing internal cable clutter and improving the aesthetics of your build. Furthermore, CircuitShield™ suite provides a full array of industrial-grade protections, all backed by a generous ten-year warranty for complete peace of mind.

Key Features

  • ATX 3.1 & PCIe 5.1 Compatible: Formally certified for ATX 3.1 compliance and includes a PCIe 5.1 12V-2×6 GPU cable for seamless compatibility with the latest graphics cards, such as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series.
  • 80 PLUS Gold Certified: Guarantees a high level of power efficiency, reducing energy consumption and minimising waste heat.
  • High-Quality JP Capacitors: Equipped with premium Japanese capacitors to achieve tight voltage regulation and minimal ripple and noise, maximising system performance and longevity.
  • PhaseWave™ Design: A server-class LLC design featuring synchronous rectification based on a DC-DC topology for unrivalled power delivery efficiency and stability.
  • Zero RPM Manager: Advanced thermal control that ensures silent operation at low loads by activating the 120mm FDB fan only when required.
  • Full Modular Cable Management: Allows users to connect only necessary cables, eliminating excess cables that can obstruct airflow and simplifying installation.
  • CircuitShield™ Protection: A Comprehensive suite of industrial-grade protections, including OCP, OVP, UVP, SCP, OPP, OTP, SIP, and NLO, to ensure the safety and reliability of the power supply.
  • Compact Size: Features a smaller physical dimension than many comparable power supplies, allowing for greater compatibility with a wider range of PC cases.
