DF500 RGB: A Colourful New Antec Case
Antec knows that the chassis market is heating up with plenty of affordable RGB LED options. Which is why they are announcing their new DF500 RGB case. It is squarely aimed at Cooler Master‘s budget-conscious MasterBox Lite 5 RGB. Furthermore, Antec also has a non-RGB version for an even more economical alternative.
What Features Does it Have?
The chassis measures 470 x 280 x 480mm, and comes with a tempered-glass left side panel. Aside from having USB 3.0 ports and audio jacks at the front IO, there is also an RGB LED control button. This is connected to a built-in RGB LED hub which allows users to control lights directly if their motherboard does not have an RGB header. The presets for this RGB LED hardware controller include static, pulsing and breathing color-cycle modes.
It has seven expansion slots, which is standard for a mid-tower case. However, it lacks 5.25-inch drive support, but has room for two 3.5-inch or 2/5-inch drives via the HDD cage. Four additional 2.5-inch drive mounting areas are available, two of which are at the back of the motherboard tray.
In terms of component clearance, the top or front supports 3x 120mm or 2x 140mm fans. However, only the front supports radiators up to 360mm (up to 55mm thick). On the DF500 RGB, three RGB LED fans on the front come bundled already. Maximum PSU length support is up to 200mm, while maximum CPU cooler height clearance is up to 165mm. Since there is no HDD cage on the way of the video card, users can install devices up to 380mm long. There is also 20mm of clearance for cable management in the back of the motherboard tray.
How Much Does the DF500 Case Cost?
The DF500 RGB case has an MSRP of £69.99 inc VAT in the UK or $69.99 in the US. The non-RGB DF500 case is available for £49.99.
