AOC AGON AG276QZD2 QD-OLED, 0.03ms 240Hz Gaming Monitor Review

A Closer Look

AOC are one of the leading brands when it comes to monitor design, and their AGON series is the top of the line from their rather extensive selection of panels. This is a gaming-focused model, so it’s a little flashier looking than most, with its unique eSports design stand.

It’s not a symmetrical design, with a larger angle on the right side of the base, so that it doesn’t get in the way of your gaming mouse. Personally, I prefer a symmetrical stand. I’m not saying this design doesn’t work, it does, but I have the same stand on my own monitor and it just looks a little odd. That being said, the stand is extremely durable, with lots of metal in it to provide a durable and weighted base to minimise unwanted wobbles and vibration in the monitor.

The stand offers up a wide range of ergonomics too, with 28 degrees of swivel to each side, 90 degrees of pivot to put it into portrait mode, and -5+25 degrees of tilt. Overall, you should have no issues getting an optimal viewing angle, especially when combined with the perfect 178-degree viewing angles offered by the QD-OLED panel.

The panel itself is coated with a 2H anti-reflection coating, which does a reasonable job of diffusing light, but it is a bit on the glossy side. However, keep in mind it comes with all the usual quirks of an OLED screen, in that it’s a little harder to clean, and a bit on the soft side; it’s easier to scratch than most and susceptible to fingerprints. However, a good quality soft microfibre cloth and some deionised water (not screencleaner) should be all you need to keep it looking great.

Around the back of the monitor, you’ll see it has a pretty slick-looking rear panel, so it’s going to look great on a more open desktop setup, or even a crowd-facing eSports environment. There’s a ring of ARGB lighting towards the middle, providing backlight effects and full RGB customisation options for colour, effects and brightness; and yes, you can turn it off.

In terms of connectivity, the monitor features HDMI 2.0 with support for up to 144Hz, and DisplayPort 14.4 with support for up to 240Hz, so HDMI for consoles, DisplayPort for PC, obviously.
