AOC Announces Incredibly Affordable 240Hz+ 24G4ZR and 27G4ZR Gaming Monitors

It wasn’t that long ago that if you wanted a monitor capable of pushing past the 240Hz barrier with sub-millisecond response times, you had to look toward the premium esports segment and be prepared to spend big. However, the market is shifting, and AGON by AOC is leading the charge in making high-end competitive specs the new baseline for entry-level gamers. They’ve just announced four new additions to its popular G4 line-up: the 23.8-inch 24G4ZR and 24G4ZRE, alongside the 27-inch 27G4ZR and 27G4ZRE. These displays are built around Fast IPS panels that offer a native 240Hz refresh rate; which can be easily overclocked to 260Hz via the monitor’s internal menu or the AOC G-Menu software.

AOC GAMING 24G4ZR and 27G4ZR

With a combination of speed and vlue, the new monitors feature Fast IPS technology, AOC is providing the rapid response times required for titles like Counter-Strike 2 or Valorant without sacrificing the colour accuracy and viewing angles that gamers have come to expect. Sure, they’re not the flagship QD-OLED panels, but they’re certainly not cheaping out on features. These monitors boast a 0.3ms MPRT and 1ms GtG response time, effectively eliminating ghosting during fast-paced movement. To ensure the experience remains smooth, they feature Adaptive-Sync technology and are officially Nvidia G-SYNC compatible. Furthermore, AOC has included MBR Sync, which allows the use of backlight strobing alongside variable refresh rates to maintain clarity across a wide range of 48Hz to 260Hz.

The displays aren’t just about raw speed; they offer solid colour performance for their class. The 27-inch models provide 121.5% sRGB and 92.3% DCI-P3 coverage, while the 23.8-inch variants offer 111.7% sRGB and 87.7% DCI-P3. With 300 cd/m² brightness and 178-degree viewing angles, they should hold up well in most gaming environments and daytime usage too. The “ZR” models come equipped with a fully ergonomic stand, offering 130mm of height adjustment, tilt, swivel, and pivot. For those who already have a monitor arm or are looking to save a bit of money, the “ZRE” variants offer the exact same panel performance but swap the ergonomic stand for a tilt-only version. Both styles utilize the G4 design’s three-sided frameless aesthetic and are VESA 100×100 compatible.

What we think

For years, “entry-level” usually meant 144Hz or perhaps 165Hz if you were lucky. By pushing 260Hz into the G4 line-up at these price points, everybody wins. The inclusion of MBR Sync is a particularly nice touch, as being able to use strobing without losing variable refresh rate functionality is a feature often reserved for much more expensive hardware. Whether you prefer the compact 24-inch form factor for focus or the 27-inch for immersion, these look like very competitive options for budget-conscious players.

“260 Hz and 0.3 ms MPRT used to be specs reserved for esports-focussed higher-tier displays,” says César Acosta, Gaming Product Manager at AGON by AOC. “With the 24G4ZR and 27G4ZR, we’re making that level of speed the new starting point, because every competitive player deserves a monitor that keeps up with them.”

Where to buy

The new AOC GAMING G4 monitors are scheduled to hit the shelves in February 2026. The pricing is incredibly aggressive, starting at just £109 for the 24″ and just £149 for the top end model with the ergonomic stand. This is simply incredible value!
