AOC Gaming GH401 Wireless Gaming Headset Review

AOC is one of the leading brands for gaming hardware, albeit, the bulk of what they’ve ever done is create award-winning gaming monitors? So, what in the hell am I doing with an AOC headset? That’s a good question. You may recall I recently tested an AOC keyboard, and actually, they have a whole range of new peripherals out there now. What better way for them to take their brand to the next level than to make everything on your desktop AOC branded! Who knows, in years to come, they may tackle under-desk stuff like cases and coolers. However, for now, let’s get back to the AOC GH401 wireless gaming headset.

AOC GH401

Their new headset is fairly modest, sitting in an affordable price bracket. However, there’s an even cheaper wired model and a similarly priced wired (Virtual) 7.1 version, so you should be able to find something to suit your needs. The model I have is 2.0 Stereo, with 2.4GHz wireless technology, although it can also be used in a 3.5mm cabled mode, making it broadly compatible with just about anything you can think of. It’s well enough equipped though, with a detachable microphone, decent battery life, some larger 50mm drivers for a nice big sound, and some basic onboard controls too. I’m not expecting this to be a world-beating headset at around £40, but the GH401 does look pretty promising.

What AOC Had to Say

“The days of tangled cables and restricted movement are gone: With wireless headphones, you can conveniently stand up and walk around your room while still hearing your teammates and the in-game action. You can also still communicate with them, as the microphone works over distance as well. Our AOC headsets are guaranteed to fit – no matter the size of your head, or if you wear a cap underneath or have glasses. The steel slider headband lets you adjust your headset quickly and is ensured to stay in place and stay comfortable throughout your gaming sessions. Our AOC headphones come with 50mm drivers. The driver is a round piece in the ear-part of a headset that creates the sound you hear – basically a tiny speaker. A large driver allows for a richer sound with more intense and cleaner bass. A diameter of 50mm is on the bigger end of the spectrum, meaning you will get top audio quality.” – AOC

So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
