AOC Gaming U27G4R 4K@160Hz 1080@320Hz Dual Resolution Monitor Review

There’s no shortage of great gaming monitors in 2025, but it seems that the folks at AOC are always at the front of the pack. The new AOC U27G4R may not feature the latest and greatest display technology, such as OLED or Mini-LED, but what it does have is the last generation of technologies tuned up to the max. It features a dual-resolution FHD (1920×1080) and 4K (3840×2160) panel, which can operate at two different refresh rates. In 4K, it maxes out at 160Hz, which is more than enough for those wanting the higher resolution.
AOC Gaming U27G4R
This innovative approach from AOC demonstrates a keen understanding of the diverse needs of modern gamers, offering a versatile solution that caters to both visually stunning immersive experiences for gaming and higher resolutions for daily work tasks, but also the lightning-fast speeds many gamers desire in 2025 and beyond. If you’re firing up an eSports title and want maximum speed, FHD mode runs at a blisteringly fast 320Hz. This allows players to prioritise frame rate over pixel count in fast-paced games where every millisecond counts, providing a significant competitive advantage.
Future Technology, Old School Prices
It’s a testament to AOC’s continued dedication to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, providing a very competitive solution for those seeking a high-performance monitor without necessarily investing in the cutting edge of OLED or Mini-LED panels, or dealing with their significantly higher prices. Despite the cool specifications, this monitor is going to cost you less than £300, so with that in mind, I’m super excited to see what it has to offer.
Dual Resolution/Refresh Rate IPS
The dual refresh rate functionality is certainly interesting, as I’ve only really seen this on high-end OLED monitors until now. However, there are plenty of other goodies too, such as a Fast IPS display with HDMI 2.1, DisplayHDR 400, a 0.5ms MBR MPRT mode, a 4-port USB 3.0 hub, AMD FreeSync Premium, Adaptive Sync, and it’s even G-Sync compatible. So yeah, it’s ticking a lot of boxes here. The panel looks to be pretty well equipped too, offering up Wide Colour Gamut support, with 125% sRGB and 96% DCI-P3 colour reproduction, which is really not too bad at all.
