AOC Q27P3QW QHD IPS Home Office Monitor Review

How Much Does it Cost?

With an MSRP of £239.99, the AOC Q27P3QW is a little more expensive than monitors of a similar size and resolution. However, it does have a few extra features included that add to the overall value for money and usability. The inclusion of speakers, a microphone, a Windows Hello compatible microphone, and the USB hub make it very versatile, and removed the need to buy those peripherals and a USB hub separately, while also keeping your workspace cleaner, as these devices are all built-in. At time time of writing the monitor was available for just £217.48 on Amazon.

Overview

I’m very happy with this monitor, it does everything it promises to do very well indeed. You can buy monitors with better panels for the same amount of money though. If you want 4K, you can get that at a similar price, but likely a VA panel, not IPS. If you want higher refresh rates, you can do that too, but at the cost of not having the work-from-home friendly features, and if you want to save money, there are cheaper, less feature-rich monitors available for those on a tighter budget.

Overall though, it strikes a rich balance between cost, features and performance. a 27″ panel is a good size for most users, for work, media consumption and even a bit of gaming, and with a 2560 x 1440 resolution, the image is clear and well-detailed in all scenarios. The 75 Hz refresh rate may not seem like much of a bump over 60 Hz, but it is 25% faster, and you can feel the difference in both daily work and in some light gaming too.

The inclusion of a Windows Hello webcam is superb, and pairing the monitor with my work laptop, being able to use the camera as a secure login device is pretty handy. The obvious benefit also is that I can take video calls right from the monitor, without the need for an additional camera or microphone, and largely, you’ll find the camera and microphone are a good upgrade from most work laptops.

AOC also makes a more premium version with a 5MP camera (this one is 2MP), and that one also comes with USB-C PD 65W, making it even easier to connect to a laptop, and even charge that laptop if its supported, but it’s £309.99 (on sale for £261.14 at the time of writing). Both monitors are the same though, so it’s really up to your specific use case if that extra investment is worth it for you.

Should I Buy One?

With great ergonomics, an easy-to-use portrait mode, a built-in hub, camera and microphone, and a bright 1440p display, the AOC Q27P3QW is versatile, easy to use, and a great addition to your workspace. For hooking up to your PC, laptop, multi-display configurations, a single display, or even as your secondary display, it’s going to work well in any of these setups. Highly recommended!
