Aorus 17H i7-13700H & RTX 4080 Gaming Laptop Review

A Closer Look

While laptop design hasn’t really changed much on the exterior over the years, it’s still a great-looking laptop. The biggest thing about this laptop is actually the size of it. With a 17.3″ display, it gives it some added width to put in a more complete keyboard, including a numberpad. Maybe it’s a bit big for international travel unless you’re feeling particularly eager to lug around this big lump and its monster power adaptor. That being said, despite the size, it’s surprisingly thin, so not all is lost. However, if you’re just cruising from office to office in your car, it’s hardly a burden putting it in a bigger bag and leaving it in the boot (what we English folk call a Trunk) when you travel.

The display is nice and large, the bezels are slim, the lid is slim, and around the back, it’s very clean and tidy with just a simple embossed Aorus logo.

At the back, there’s a good amount of ventilation, and some little orange detailing, which is common on Aorus products.

down the left side, there’s an RJ45, HDMI, DP, and USB 3 port, as well as some ventilation.

And on the right, a headphone, USB, Type-C, and power socket, with even more ventilation. However, this seems like a bad place for the power cable, as the right side is commonly used for the mouse, so it would be nice to have this moved to the rear.

There are some hard moulded feet that provide a little clearance for the bottom intakes too, so overall, ventilation does look good; it’ll need to be too, as the hardware within is pretty hardcore.

There are some vents here too, often mistaken for speakers, these are usually to let heat out above the motherboard. If you look at the picture above, the speakers are on the front left and right corners.

The keyboard is nice enough, for lack of a better word, it’s a standard laptop keyboard design really, no surprises, but nothing to complain about either. The trackpad is nice and large though and has a nice clickable surface, multi-touch and all the usual stuff really. So, let’s power it up!

Of course, it’s fully RGB-lit and customizable too.
