General Performance

This is one sexy laptop, and the hardware within is truly mighty. When doing daily tasks like browsing reddit, working by reading reddit, on those important work Teams calls while I look at reddit, or watching Red Dwarf on my breaks from reddit, the laptop is nice and quiet. The fans purr away, it gives off very little heat, and it’s a joy to use.

The screen is “only” Full HD and I do love my higher resolutions, but honestly, at 17.3″ it’s a great resolution, with a good pixel density and excellent overall clarity. The colours and contrast of the panel really pop too, and it has a really nice flat and balanced tone that’s pleasing to the eye without causing strain. It’s got a good brightness too, so will handy brightly lit environments fairly well.

While the i7 is a solid CPU for video editing, there is an i9 option available that’ll be even more potent. That being said, for most users just editing a few gaming clips and social media videos, the i7 is still very fast. Plus if you’re using an editor that can use CUDA, the RTX 4080 is going to give you a huge boost too.

Honestly, the daily work performance is pretty flawless, and the speakers have a good maximum volume and low distortion, but obviously lack the bass of a larger speaker setup. However, I could happily watch some TV on here with the speakers, and the screen is big enough to make a movie enjoyable while lounging in bed.

The camera, the keyboard, and the overall ergonomics, they’re all pretty good and feel familiar, as the design isn’t exactly reinventing the wheel. However, this isn’t an office donkey of a laptop, it’s a gaming thoroughbred, so put those Buckaroo Banzai wallpapers away, there’s gaming to be done.
