Aorus AP1600 Ai Top 1600W Titanium Power Supply Review

Gigabyte has long been a trusted name in the PC enthusiast space for longer than many of our readers have been alive, building high-end hardware for decades! However, their top-tier gaming hardware falls under their flagship Aorus division, such as their flagship graphics cards, motherboards, and now, power supplies, as they continue to push the boundaries of high-end hardware. Today we are looking at the Aorus AP1600 TM Titanium Power Supply, a colossal 1600W unit designed for the most demanding multi-GPU setups. While multi-GPU doesn’t have much use in modern PC gaming, it’s vital for workstations that work on video and graphics rendering, advanced AI computing, and people who just want to flex with the best hardware they can get their hands on. When building a system comprised of top tier components, you want a reliable power delivery system to back it all up, and if anything, a quality PSU is absolutely crucial when it comes to flagship graphics cards. Giving it’s specifications, I am expecting this PSU to deliver absolutely top tier performance, power delivery, efficiency, and more, and frankly, nothing else will do, as the PSU market is extremely competitive and there are already some truly stunning options on the market, so you either have to compete or excel to have a chance of being purchased.

Features and Specifications

The Aorus AP1600 TM Titanium seeks to grab your attention through its absolutely beastly power capabilities. Despite being surprisingly compact, it can output a massive 1600W, which is far above what a typical single CPU and GPU combination will achieve. This is largely achieved via the GaN MOSFETs, allowing for a more compact design. But by the time you have, let’s say, a flagship CPU, and two RTX 5090s, and overclock everything, even then, you’ve still got some PSU headroom to deal with the rest of your components. When it comes to aesthetics, it features a built-in digital LCD screen, which allows you to monitor real-time power consumption, current, temperatures, and fan speeds, or even display custom images, GIFs, and videos via the Gigabyte Control Center, giving it the swag factor that seems pretty important to many enthusiast PC users. Furthermore, this unit incorporates an automated fan dust removal system that spins the fan in reverse at startup to clear out debris, something I don’t think I’ve ever seen on a consumer PSU, but a cool idea none the less, as it’ll help to maintain the PSU over extended use.

The PSU integrates with AI TOP Utility too, allowing it to provide real-time power monitoring and key system statistics through a unified dashboard during AI workloads. This helps you keep track of a wealth of statistics, helping you mange your PSU loads, efficiency and more, which can be vital for systems you have running and working 24/7.

Features

  • Real-time digital LCD display for system monitoring and custom media playback
  • Support for up to four PCIe Gen 5.1 graphics cards simultaneously
  • Compact 160mm length chassis for easier installation in various cases
  • Fully modular design featuring premium sleeved cables
  • Customisable RGB Fusion lighting compatible with other Aorus devices
  • Integration with the AI TOP Utility for real-time power monitoring during sustained AI workloads
  • Automated fan dust removal technology to ensure long-term reliability

Under the hood, the technical specifications are just as impressive as the exterior features, meeting the strict requirements of modern ATX 3.1 and PCIe Gen 5.1 standards, as you might expect. However, it goes above and beyond the usual “gold” standard, with an 80 PLUS Titanium certification, which guarantees exceptional efficiency and minimises excess heat waste, while also saving you money on your electricity bill; the savings add up faster when you’re pulling over 1000W! Furthermore, cooling is handled by a smart 140mm double ball bearing fan that can stop completely during idle or low-load scenarios for silent running, but of course, it’ll spin up when you’re pushing higher wattages. It features a full array of premium quality Japanese capacitors and a powerful single +12V rail design. Best of all, it features four 16-pin PCIe cables, allowing it to supply up to 600W for two high-end graphics cards or 300W each for four cards, making it a truly epic PSU for rendering and AI workstation builds.
