AORUS RGB Memory 16GB 3200MHz DDR4 Review

A Closer Look

The two main memory modules come as you would expect, with a full bank of pins on them. That’s an odd thing to say in a memory review, but if you paid attention to the first page, you’ll soon see why this is relevant.

All the modules come with a black PCB, which contrasts well with the brushed metal finish of the heat spreaders. And if I do say so myself, they’re some of the most luxuriously finished and styled heat spreaders I’ve ever seen. They’re precision cut, and actually a little sharp in places. However, the way the cut angles capture the light is just glorious, reflecting a warm tint through the main part, right through to the mirror like edges.

Edged into the top, is a matching decal that really does look rather cool. Of course, this is the RGB lightbar, so it’ll really shine and help difuse the LEDs too. There’s a little LED lighting on the sides too, with five notches toward one end.

Around the otherside, matching AORUS logos, and the usual sticker with technical information. It’s a small sticker at least, so it doesn’t spoil the aesthetics too much.

What is This?

These are the dummy modules, and they look almost identical to the main sticks. I mean, you could easily mix them up. However, you’ll notice there are just a few pins on the PCB here, providing power and signal information to the RGB lighting.

I must stress, these two are not RAM, they’re just RGB sticks. Of course, this means you should pay close attention that you install the real RAM in the correct slots.

Overall, this is drop dead gorgeous memory. Now let’s get it in the test bench, fire up those sparkly lights and see how the performance stacks up.
