Apacer‘s AC532 is the companies latest portable drive and it is a classic drive in most aspects. The AC532 offers great protection while retaining a slim shape at the same time. It’s easy to carry and can withstand accidental drops with ease.
Portable hard disk drives are a dying breed. Solid state drives are more resistant against drops and shocks as they don’t have any moving parts. Still, with the right techniques, a hard disk drive can be made quite solid. Apacer’s AC532 is equipped with an anti vibration internal suspension structure. With it, the drive can endure drops from a height of 1 meter. The drive also features an anti-slip design on two sides which make the AC532 easy to hold and carry. The best protection is still to not drop it at all.
The AC532 adopts a USB 3.1 Gen.1 interface. It isn’t as fast as the Gen.2, but a hard disk drive doesn’t need as much speed. It’s still more effective than USB 3.0, even if not directly noticeable at all times. Capacity wise, you get two choices: 1TB or 2TB. Both are bus–powered, so there’s no need for an external power supply.
Just as you get two options to chose from in the capacity, you get two options of colours. There is a jet black version as well as a glossy white version. Black and white might not be the most exciting choices, but they’ll match most setups well.
Apacer didn’t reveal a price or availability at this time. However, you can expect it to be priced to similar available products and be available shortly.
