Apacer Releases New ASMini USB and AS682 ARMOR+ SATA3 SSDs

Apacer is taking memory seriously and that statement is backed by more released products. You might remember the AS720 dual-interface SSD that I reviewed here at eTeknix a while ago or the Z280 NVMe drive that the unveiled at the end of August. Now they are back with two new drives, an external USB-C drive called the ASMini and an internal SATA3 drive called the AS682 Armor+.

The ASMini external drive measures 81mm x 54mm which is about the size of a name card. It’s also quite thin with its 6mm in thickness. It comes with a capacity up to 240G and it can perform sustained read/write operations with a speed of 450MB/s and 400MB/s. It uses the USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C interface, but comes with a Type-C to Type-A cable, allowing you to connect it to all your systems. It can withstand up to 20G of vibration and 1,500G of shock force and it comes with all the usual features such as TRIM, NCQ, ECC 72bit/1KB, and S.M.A.R.T.

The AS682 ARMOR+ is a default SATA3 SSD that can operate with read/write speeds up to 540 MB/s and 475 MB/s. The random performance is rated up to 95,000 IOPS. The Armor+ comes in two available capacities, 250GB and 500GB, which should be the most common sizes these days. The drive features wear leveling and Error Correction Code (ECC) functions to protect data with extended product life. It comes with a 1.2 million hour MTBF and supports standards such as S.M.A.R.T., NCQ, and TRIM.

The design on the shell of AS682 ARMOR+ is inspired by the iron core often seen on comic book superheroes. The noticeable gear-like emblem can give your system an extra level of design assuming the drive is positioned so it’s visible through a side panel or similar.

Apacer didn’t reveal any prices on the two new drives, but they should start to appear at your favorite retailers and hardware shops soon.
