The Apple Watch, the wearable tech that was set to revolutionise how we use wearables. Released this week in some parts of the world, it has been a media frenzy to be the first to document it, take it apart and just generally live with it, but what about problems? It is new, so it is possible that problems will arise. Well it didn’t take long, Apple Watch users have taken to social media outlets to express their frustration with what has now unofficially been dubbed “Tattoo-Gate”.
If you couldn’t figure out the problem from that, here’s a breakdown. The Apple Watch uses a process known as photoplethysmography, this process involves shining a high-intensity light from a green LED into your wrist to detect how much blood is flowing and any that bounces back is recorded and displayed by the watch; a similar process to sonar. If you have a tattoo around where the watch back will be making contact with our skin, expect problems.
Youtuber Michael Lovell has recorded his findings with his new Apple Watch, here’s the video.
Looks like Apple might lose some hipster followers if this doesn’t get fixed soon. Are you looking at buying an Apple Watch? Have you already received yours? Let us know if you have any problems down in the comments.
