Apple Will Start Manufacturing the Mac Mini in the United States by the End of 2026
Apple appears ready to continue expanding its “Made in USA” Mac lineup, with the Mac Mini set to become the next product manufactured on U.S. soil. This follows the Mac Pro, which has already been produced in the United States on a smaller scale. From Foxconn’s plant in Houston, Texas, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, Sabih Khan, told The Wall Street Journal that the Mac Mini will begin production there by the end of 2026.
The Mac Mini Joins the “Made in USA” Program
This does not mean that all components will be fully produced in the United States. Apple is mainly referring to the final assembly of the Mac Mini. Many parts will continue to arrive from Asia, but assembly and final testing will take place in the U.S.
This move strengthens Apple’s plan to diversify its supply chain and reduce its dependence on China, especially at a time of trade tensions and changes in tariff policies.
At present, the Mac Mini is manufactured in China and Vietnam. Part of this Asian production will shift to the southern United States to better meet local demand. This decision could shorten delivery times in the North American market and improve Apple’s ability to respond to demand spikes or possible supply issues.
Apple produces thousands of Mac Mini units every week. By splitting production between two regions, the company can better distribute and meet demand for this small and affordable Mac. The Mac Mini has become a popular choice for both home users and light professional use, thanks to its compact size and the efficiency of Apple Silicon chips.
In addition, Apple has plans to expand chip manufacturing in North America, although nothing specific has been officially confirmed in direct connection to the Mac Mini. The company has already announced major investments in the United States and agreements with semiconductor manufacturers to produce advanced chips domestically in the coming years.
If this strategy moves forward as planned, Apple would strengthen its position as a company with industrial operations in the United States, while also gaining more flexibility in logistics and policy matters in a key market. The Mac Mini could become the second major pillar of Apple’s “Made in USA” program within the Mac lineup.
