Arctic has confirmed that all its existing LGA1700 coolers are fully compatible with the new LGA1851 socket, which will debut alongside Intel’s upcoming Arrow Lake processors. Arctic, known for its reliable cooling solutions, stated that despite the new socket having more pins, the physical dimensions remain unchanged. This means that those upgrading their systems won’t need to purchase new coolers.
LGA1700 Compatibility with LGA1851
In a statement on their official website, Arctic emphasized, “All LGA1700 compatible ARCTIC coolers can be used without restriction for Intel’s new LGA1851 socket.” This news allows current customers to transition to Intel’s Arrow Lake chips without concerns about cooler incompatibility. Arctic further noted that all coolers purchased after October 23, 2023, will continue to support the LGA1851 socket.
However, enthusiasts aiming for top performance or those running their coolers at maximum capacity might consider upgrading, as Arrow Lake processors are expected to generate more heat than their predecessors. For regular users, reusing an LGA1700 cooler with the new Z890 motherboards and Arrow Lake processors should suffice without issue.
Arctic’s confirmation paves the way for a smooth upgrade, and other manufacturers, like Noctua, are also expected to follow suit with similar announcements.
