ARK 2 Still Exists, But Don’t Expect It Anytime Soon
What happened to ARK 2? Many fans keep asking this question since the game was first announced back in 2020 — and then disappeared without a trace. After a long silence, we finally have some news about the sequel to one of the most successful survival games ever, Ark: Survival Evolved. Some updates are good, others less so, as the game is still far from being released.
Release Date Delays and What We Know So Far
At first, ARK 2 was supposed to be released in 2022, but something clearly went wrong since it completely vanished from the spotlight.
According to Geoff Keighley, who shared information on the official X (Twitter) account for The Game Awards, ARK 2 is now planned for release in 2028.
Considering the game was announced during the 2020 Game Awards, it’s safe to assume Keighley has some reliable inside information about the project.
That’s a very distant release date — about six years later than the original plan. This means development has likely turned out to be much more complicated than expected. Still, at least we now have a rough idea of how long we’ll need to wait.
For now, Wildcard Studios has not shared many details about ARK 2. What we do know is that players will be thrown into a world filled with prehistoric creatures, where survival remains the main focus.
The developers have also said they want to create a more immersive experience, with detailed cinematic scenes — including the return of Vin Diesel, who was already featured in the announcement trailer.
