Arknights: Endfield Suspends PayPal Payments After Reports of Irregular Charges

The developers of Arknights: Endfield have suspended all PayPal payments after several players reported unauthorized charges on their accounts. While the exact cause of the issue remains unclear, developer Hyperglyph has confirmed it is conducting an internal investigation to identify what went wrong.

Some users discovered that in-game purchases had been made without their consent — in some cases, involving significant amounts of money.

In an official message to players, Hyperglyph acknowledged the problem and clarified that it currently affects a limited number of purchases made through PayPal. The studio has urged affected players to contact support via email, providing their server and account ID, to receive a refund. According to the company, refunds will be processed within four hours of verification.

The developers also issued an apology to players, explaining that they understand how frustrating and concerning this situation can be — especially when it involves personal payment information.

Transparency and Future Actions

In a statement shared with Eurogamer, Hyperglyph reassured users that all PayPal transactions involved in the issue would be fully refunded. The company emphasized that it does not store players’ payment information, as all payment details are handled directly by PayPal and are not saved within the game’s systems.

The issue appears to have affected only a small number of players on specific platforms. Once Hyperglyph became aware of the irregular activity, it disabled PayPal payments within two hours of the game’s launch to prevent further problems.

For now, PayPal payments will remain disabled as the studio continues its investigation alongside its payment partners. Hyperglyph stated it will not restore the option until it is completely sure the issue has been resolved.

The developers concluded by saying: “We’re truly sorry for the stress and inconvenience this caused, and we’re grateful for your patience while we work through this carefully. If you have additional questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly.”

Despite the strong launch of Arknights: Endfield, which saw over 35 million pre-registrations, this technical setback has somewhat overshadowed its debut.

Arknights: Endfield is available now on PlayStation 5, PC, and mobile devices via App Store and Play Store.
