ASRock Enables Support for Upcoming Ryzen CPUs with New AGESA Combo AM5 1.2.7.1
ASRock has officially listed the “AGESA Combo AM5 1.2.7.1” update in its support index — a firmware update aimed at motherboards with B650 and B850 chipsets. The release notes highlight one key feature: “upcoming CPU compatibility.”
Early Support Confirms New Ryzen CPUs Are Coming
Whether intentionally or not, ASRock has confirmed the arrival of new Ryzen processors by preparing its motherboards to support them early.
This update follows previous hints from other manufacturers, such as ASUS, regarding upcoming support for the “Zen 6” architecture. However, ASRock’s update suggests that new releases could be arriving much sooner. In fact, the previous beta version of AGESA (1.2.7.0), which ASRock skipped, already contained code references to AMD’s “Strix Point” (STX) and “Phoenix Point” (PHX) architectures.
Possible Preparation for Ryzen 9000G Series
The 1.2.7.1 revision appears to be the next necessary step to enable “Krackan Point” or “Strix Point” APUs on these motherboards. This strongly supports the speculation that AMD may unveil its new “Ryzen 9000G” series at CES 2026.
In addition to new APUs, future compatibility could also include high-end models such as the “Ryzen 7 9850X3D” and “Ryzen 9 9950X3D2”, both of which have been mentioned in recent leaks.
The next major technology event, CES 2026, set for January, is expected to bring several important announcements from AMD — not only in the CPU segment but also across its broader product line.
