ASRock Fatal1ty X79 Champion (X79) Motherboard Review

Power Consumption

To test power consumption, we monitor the overall power of the system through a plug-in electricity usage monitor at an idle and load state. This allows us to show the fluctuation between how much power draw the system takes at idle and at load. By monitoring the overall usage of the whole system, it gives an easy comparison if you wish to do the same yourself as opposed to buying very expensive individual testing equipment.

Power consumption is something we know X79 in general is not going to win awards for on its own. We did find that the X79 Champion is quite a hungry board especially at full load where it consumed well over 300W. Overclocking did see more of a gain in usage at idle with over 200W recorded and at full load the board topped out at 350W.

  1. Asrock cobble pretty decent boards together nowadays although I’d never consider this board for myself. Wendell has enough money already without have to milk more from some suckers.

  2. I wonder how this board is for long run. Specially for those guys who turn off their PC once in a month.

  3. NEVER THOUGHT OF ASROCK AS A OVERCLOCKING MOTHER BOARD COMPARABLE TO ASUS GIGABYTE ECG MSI AND SO ON THIS IS A NICE LOOKING AND BY YOUR SPECS GREAT PROFORMANCE MOTHER BOARD AT A GREAT PRICE WOULD MAKE FOR AN INTERESTING BUILD
