ASRock Launches H610M Combo, A Motherboard Supporting DDR4 and DDR5
ASRock has decided to bring back a once-forgotten strategy — designing hybrid motherboards like the H610M Combo, which comes equipped with both DDR4 and DDR5 slots.
With the launch of the ASRock H610M Combo, the manufacturer offers a lifeline to users who want to upgrade their systems without being trapped by the high costs of modern RAM.
The main feature of this motherboard is its ability to support two different generations of memory. Equipped with the LGA1700 socket, compatible with Intel Core 12th, 13th, and 14th-generation processors, the H610M Combo includes six DIMM slots — four for DDR5 and two for DDR4.
A Smart Solution for the Memory Supply Crisis
This configuration directly responds to the ongoing memory supply crisis, which has caused DDR5 prices to skyrocket. While DDR5 modules have become up to four times more expensive due to component shortages, DDR4 remains a much more affordable option.
The motherboard allows users to either reuse existing DDR4 modules or buy cheaper memory now, leaving the door open for a future upgrade to DDR5 without changing the motherboard.
Intel even highlighted the H610M Combo on social media, noting its flexibility: it lets builders choose whichever memory type is more accessible or cost-effective.
Despite its clever design, the H610M Combo is an entry-level motherboard. It supports up to 96 GB of DDR5 at 4800 MT/s or 64 GB of DDR4 at 2666 MT/s. However, it’s important to note that users cannot mix the two types of memory — they must choose one standard or the other.
In terms of connectivity, the board includes HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, and VGA outputs, along with COM and PS/2 ports. This makes it suitable not only for budget-conscious users but also for industrial environments that still rely on older peripherals.
Once again, ASRock has shown its ability to understand market needs. The H610M Combo stands as a clear example of practical innovation — giving users flexibility, saving costs, and extending hardware lifespan.
