Assassin’s Creed TV Series Gets the Green Light from Netflix, New Showrunners Announced
The Assassin’s Creed TV series is moving forward, with Netflix seemingly giving the final approval for production. This comes after an initial announcement several years ago followed by a period of complete silence. Now, we finally know the names of the new showrunners.
According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter (thanks GameSpot), the new leaders of the production are Robert Patino and David Wiener. They will serve as creators, showrunners, and executive producers of the Assassin’s Creed TV series, replacing Jeb Stuart, who was initially chosen but left the project in 2023 due to differences in vision.
Both Patino and Wiener are veterans of the industry. Patino previously worked on Westworld and Sons of Anarchy, while Wiener was behind the TV series Halo and The Killing.
A New Hope for the Assassin’s Creed TV Show
This move should represent a significant step forward for the Assassin’s Creed TV series, which seemed lost after years of silence and a production that appeared unable to find its direction after the announcement five years ago.
Both Wiener and Patino have expressed their excitement and honor in working on the series. They mentioned that they are huge fans of the video game series and are thrilled by the possibilities the project offers.
The show is described as a high-stakes thriller centered on a secret war between two dark factions, one aiming to shape the future of humanity through control and manipulation, while the other fights to preserve free will. “The series follows its characters across pivotal historical events as they battle to shape humanity’s destiny,” reads the official description.
The producers also highlighted that beneath its action, parkour, and thrills, the show is grounded in essential human stories: events about people searching for purpose while dealing with identity, destiny, and faith. “It is about power and violence and sex and greed and vengeance,” they said. “But more than anything, this is a show about the value of human connection, across cultures, across time.”
