ASUS Announce Transformer Book Trio “Three-In-One”

ASUS have unveiled their latest abomination that isn’t quite sure what it really is. Want a Windows 8 notebook? Want a Windows 8 desktop? Want an Android tablet? Well why not have all three? That’s ASUS’ message with the new Transformer Book Trio.

The Transformer Book Trio can switch between Windows 8 and Android 4.2 at the touch of a button. It features dual processors and dual operating systems.

The standalone display/tablet unit features an 11.6 inch full HD (1920×1080) IPS display with an Intel Atom dual core processor and 64GB of SSD storage. The tablet also boasts 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0 and has an independent battery supporting up to 13 hours of battery life.ASUS_Transformer_Book_Trio_1

The keyboard dock and base unit is home to the Windows 8 operating system. By itself the unit has a Haswell Mobile Core series processor, Windows 8 OS, 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and up to 5 hours of battery life. With mini DP out and micro-HDMI out the unit can be used as a standalone desktop simply by hooking it up to a monitor. When connected to the tablet/display unit it becomes a Windows 8 notebook.

There’s no word on pricing and availability but I think this is a pretty darn cool creation by ASUS. Whether or not people can find a practical application for it is another matter.
