ASUS has made its GeForce GTX 980 Poseidon official, as you can see above.
ASUS’ Republic of Gamers (ROG) team has officially unveiled the new video card after we teased it last week, which combines the worlds of air and liquid cooling to provide users with more flexibility than most GPUs. The new ASUS card uses two dustproof fans blowing down into its custom, direct-contact vapour chamber. When splashing water on it, the Poseidon GTX 980 uses a copper contact plate, and two 0.25-inch fittings that integrate it into an existing watercooling setup, easily.
The company says that the watercooled temperatures are 27C lower than the reference design, which is quite impressive. ASUS has slapped on a non-reference power delivery system, with a 10-phase VRM, black solid-state capacitors, hardened Mosfets, and “concrete-core” chokes. A full backplate is installed onto the GTX 980 Poseidon, which provides even more cooling and rigidity to the card.
