Asus Rampage IV Extreme X79 Motherboard Review

As we expected, the Rampage IV Extreme is running the world famous Asus UEFI BIOS with the red ROG colour scheme that takes you straight into the advanced set of menus. Things look pretty much standard from what we’ve seen with other Asus ROG boards, but there are a few added extras when it comes to tweaking the settings.

Straight away we see a lot more OC Profile’s that have been implemented in to give you a lot more options in terms of overclocking depending on what type of overclock you are hoping to gain. Whether you are a normal mainstream overclocker, or a gamer who wants a bit extra from his system.

There are other new options, such as Xtreme Tweaking which claims that it can improve some benchmarks performance.

Voltage settings are certainly plentiful and a few areas of paradise it seems. Certainly sounds interesting, so let’s take a further look into that, shall we.

the CPU Tweakers Paradise area gives a few settings involving the Skew but we’re unsure as to why this couldn’t be included in the main menus.

Memory Tweakers Paradise gives a lot more options that’s relevant to each individual memory channel.

PCH Chipset Tweakers Paradise gives some more voltage settings to get stability as a main priority.

It’s very much the same situation with the VGA Tweakers Paradise as we find more options for voltages for the VGA cards.

In one part of the BIOS, we find the GPU Post screen which shows us exactly what is in each slot.

There is also a PCIe Lane Simulator which allows you to simulate what slots you want populated before you physically do it. This allows you to check what slots will be running and at what bandwidth.

Under the temperature monitor, we find a segment devoted to SubZero Sense for the extreme overclockers using the likes of LN2.

As we look at the screenshots that we took, you can see a lot of new options and settings, especially when it comes to overclocking and getting the right settings for our processor and memory.
