ASUS is rolling out a new addition to their VivoBook family. This time it is a 14-inch VivoBook X420, designed to be lightweight and compact. It also features a ‘frameless’ Nano-Edge display.
The term ‘frameless’ here of course, not used literally as there is still a frame on the laptop’s display. Instead it is what laptop companies use to refer to products with a high screen-to-body ratio. In the case of the ASUS VivoBook X420, that ratio number is 87%. In fact, its bezels are only 5.7mm thin. In terms of physical dimensions, the notebook itself measures 322.4 × 210 × 17.7 mm and weighs in at 1.4kg.
Inside, it comes with an 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor (i7-8550U) and can be specified with up to a 512GB SSD. Starting options include an i3-7020U CPU with 4GB of 2133MHz LPDDR3 RAM and a 128GB SSD.
Screen options start at 1366 x 768 60Hz. Although users can also opt for either a 1920 x 1080 60Hz TN panel or a 1920 x 1080 60Hz IPS panel display.
It also has built-in dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi with speeds of up to 867Mbps. Other connectivity options include USB Type-C, USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A, USB 2.0, HDMI output, and a microSD card reader.
