ASUS ROG break i7 3770K frequency world record

The world record for processor frequencies is always changing as different motherboard vendors battle it out by sponsoring overclocking teams and competitions to get one over on their rivals. MSI, Gigabyte, ASRock and ASUS have all been very active of late fighting it out.

The latest claim to the Ivy Bridge i7 3770K frequency world record is ASUS. An ASUS Republic of Gamers overclocking venture, with the use of liquid helium, saw ASUS push the world record to 7184.3MHz using an ASUS ROG Maximus V Extreme motherboard.

The test system was:

  • Intel Core i7 3770K
  • ASUS ROG Maximus V Extreme
  • G.Skill DDR3 Memory
  • Antec HCP 1200W PSU
  • Kingston SSD

The ASUS ROG Team consisted of well recognised overclockers – Andre Yang, TeamRU Slamms and Smoke, with assistance from Hazzan, Shamino. You can see the validation for the world record overclock here.

The team not only broke the Frequency world record but also achieved other records in Super PI 1M/32M Calculations and Pi Fast which you can see here.
