ASUS ROG Delta S Wireless Headset Review

How Much Does it Cost?

Unfortunately, at the time of writing, I couldn’t find any pricing information for this headset. I can find other reviews, press releases and more, but no price. Alas, the wired version comes in at £179.99 but the two headsets are not comparable, as the wired comes with an expensive quad-DAC AMP and RGB tech, to name but a few things, so I strongly suspect that the wireless is actually much cheaper. However, you can check or up to date stock and prices on Amazon here.

Overview

As you might expect, this headset delivered everything it promised and more. It’s a great headset, but it’s also going up against some truly fierce competition these days. The likes of SteelSeries, Corsair, Razer, Logitech, and many more all have similarly well-equipped headsets. In some regards, ASUS falls behind the competition, and it others, it’s ahead. However, the overall package of features, performance and build quality make it just as competitive as any of them.

The build quality is certainly top-tier and you’ll be hard pushed to beat it. A mixture of premium-looking and feeling surfaces, and some of the deepest ear pads I’ve seen in a long time really make this an exceptionally nice headset to handle. Furthermore, it’s extremely comfortable to wear. I normally find it takes me a few days to adjust to a new headset, but this one just felt natural from day one, and that’s quite rare.

The sound quality is great, very bright and clear, but I do think the default profile is way off from optimal. I snooped around for some other reviews, and it seems I’m not the only one that thinks so. Thankfully, the Armour Crate software is a breeze to operate, and you can extensively customise the EQ settings to suit your taste. At the very least, you’ll likely want to add more bass back into the mix. That being said, the drivers are very capable and pack a big bunch when you want them to.

The microphones are exceptional too, giving some strong competition to the quality microphones Corsair are using. However, the Delta S Wireless has the most advanced ANC features on its microphone I’ve seen, and they really do make a hell of a difference. Plus, since it’s actually a pair of pinhole microphones working together, there’s no boom or arm to deal with. I like this, as I often detach my microphone and promptly lose it, and that’s not going to happen here.

SHould I Buy One?

The ASUS ROG Delta S Wireless ticks all the right boxes. While there is some strong competition in the market right now, it still makes a very competitive and complete package. Offering support for a wide range of devices with 2.4 GHz via a USB Type-C Dongle, as well as having Bluetooth 5.0 makes it very versatile. Powerful drivers, superb microphones, competitive battery life and some of the most comfortable ergonomics of any headset on the market right now, all combine to make this an easy headset to recommend to just about anyone.
