ASUS ROG Joins Forces with Kojima Productions for “Ludens” Special Edition Gear

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has announced a high-profile collaboration with the legendary Kojima Productions to launch a bespoke lineup of gaming hardware. Inspired by the “Ludens” philosophy, the idea that humans are defined by their ability to play and create, the new collection blends ROG’s high-end engineering with the iconic aesthetic of artist Yoji Shinkawa. The partnership effectively merges the “For Those Who Dare” ROG motto with Kojima’s “From Sapiens to Ludens” vision, resulting in a hardware suite that looks like it stepped straight out of a sci-fi epic.

The ROG Flow Z13-KJP

The star of the show is the Flow Z13-KJP, a portable 2-in-1 powerhouse. Designed by Yoji Shinkawa himself, the tablet features a CNC-milled aluminium chassis with aggressive angular cutouts, carbon fibre accents, and bold typography. Explaining the design, Shinkawa-san noted:

“I wanted to create a gadget that belongs to Ludens, and I integrated that into this PC design. Parts and designs are inspired by Ludens and has its essence.”

Beyond the looks, it packs a serious punch with the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor. This chip utilises a unified memory architecture, meaning the CPU and GPU share a massive 96 GB pool of RAM for better efficiency in gaming and creative workloads.

Key Specifications

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 (16 Zen 5 cores)
  • Graphics: Integrated Radeon 8060S (40 RDNA 3.5 compute units)
  • Memory: 96 GB unified RAM
  • AI Performance: 50 TOPS NPU for local AI tasks
  • Display: 13.4-inch 2.5K Nebula Display (180 Hz, 100% DCI-P3)
  • Extras: Custom carrying case, unique Armoury Crate theme, and bespoke packaging.

It isn’t just about the laptop; the collaboration extends to a full suite of peripherals finished in a striking white, gold, and grey colour palette.

  • ROG Delta II-KJP: A vibrant white headset featuring the signature ROG sound profile with Kojima-inspired design touches.
  • ROG Keris II Origin-KJP Edition: A lightweight, ergonomic gaming mouse finished in a unique gold, grey, and white scheme.
  • ROG Scabbard II XXL-KJP: A premium, oversized mouse mat featuring hand-drawn Ludens artwork by Yoji Shinkawa.

This collaboration is more than just a simple logo swap. The Flow Z13-KJP includes a completely customised power adapter and a unique version of the Armoury Crate software to ensure the “Ludens” theme is present throughout the entire user experience. With 50 TOPS of NPU power, the device is also geared towards the future of AI-assisted productivity and local Large Language Model (LLM) processing.

ASUS ROG has a history of bold collaborations, but teaming up with the minds behind Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid feels like a natural fit. The Flow Z13-KJP is an absolute beast on paper, and while the price tag is certainly in the “collector” category, the unique CNC-milled chassis and massive RAM overhead make it a very tempting piece of kit for fans of Shinkawa’s art style.
