Peter Donnell / 1 week ago
There are a lot of incredible motherboards launching today for the X870/X870E chipset, and while there is a range of affordable to premium solutions, overall, the X-series chipset is still the high-end stuff, and of course, the more affordable B-series chipsets will follow in the coming weeks. However, there aren’t many motherboards out there more feature-packed than the new ROG STRIX X870E-E Gaming WIFI. For enthusiast system builders, extreme gamers, and content creators, the ROG STRIX X870E-E Gaming WIFI has a lot to offer, with a feature-rich design that’s sure to look great in your next build, but also helps push its performance to the next level. There are bigger heatsinks for improved cooling and overclocking performance, there’s a massive 18+2+2 @110A Power Stage VRM design to ensure you can push CPU clocks even harder and a plethora of connectivity options on top of that.
ROG STRIX X870E-E Gaming WIFI
The ROG STRIX X870E-E Gaming WIFI comes with the AM5 socket offering support for AMD Ryzen 7000, 8000 and 9000 CPUs, giving you plenty of choice on how to build your next system. Of course, you get the latest DDR5 support up to DDR5 8400+ MT/s (OC). There’s a reinforced PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for dealing with the latest bulky graphics cards, but also an additional PCIe 4.0 x16 (@x4) slot, which is perfect for something like a RAID, sound or capture card. There’s room for three Gen5 M.2 drives, and still an additional two Gen4 M.2 drives. And if that’s not enough, you get 2.5Gb LAN, the incredibly fast WiFi 7, and a plethora of connectivity on the back panel giving you everything you need to build an extremely fast system!

AMD 800 Series Chipset
While this review cycle we’ll be focusing on the X870E series of motherboards, of course, there’s going to be more to this series, with the X870E being the flagship models, the X870 below that, and then the B850 and the B840 being the more affordable models below those, but with some obvious compromises on the features, giving us a range of options for normal PC users, gamers, overclockers and enthusiasts.
Ryzen 9 9950X
For these reviews, we’ll be using the latest AMD Ryzen 9000 series CPU, and while we haven’t actually reviewed this CPU on its own, of course, we’ll be exploring the Ryzen 9 9950X performance through these motherboard reviews. We did a feature testing Windows 32H2 Vs 24H2 on YouTube recently, which you can check out here.
