The overclock really made the Sabertooth X79 excel past and it shows that Sandy Bridge-E compared to socket 1155 based Sandy Bridge has quite a clear advantage when used to render.

Super PI

Super PI is a computer program that calculates pi to a specified number of digits after the decimal point—up to a maximum of 32 million. It uses Gauss–Legendre algorithm and is a Windows port of the program used by Yasumasa Kanada in 1995 to compute pi to 232 digits.

In Super PI, the 1155 based 2700k stormed ahead of the 3960X at stock speeds, but the overclock ended up giving a huge advantage, but that’s not to say that the 2700k couldn’t be clocked to match and would most likely perform better.
