ASUS TUF Gaming H3 Gaming Headset Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The ASUS TUF Gaming H3 Gaming Headset is available right now in the UK for just £47.98 and for $49.99 in the US. That’s pretty affordable and puts it on par with the Roccat Cross, Corsair HS60, and SteelSeries Arctis 1. All good headsets in their own respect, but the H3 is fairly competitive with any of them.

Overview

It’s no secret that ASUS has a pretty huge fan base. They’ve got a lot of great products out there already and have even put out some pretty decent headsets in the past. However, it’s their TUF series that has been of the most interest to me in the last year or so. Firstly, it’s more often than not, more affordable than their STRIX ranges. Plus, it’s all designed to match aesthetically with ASUS TUF products, and TUF Gaming Alliance products from their partner brands, which are pretty extensive.

Powerful Sound

While the bass isn’t as big as ASUS made it sound like it was going to be, it’s not really lacking either. The headset makes up for it with a powerful top-end volume too, and you can really crank them if you need to. It sounds good, and I’d argue it sounds as good as any other £50 or less headset too.

The microphone was a nice surprise though, it’s bright and crystal clear. There’s certainly nothing to complain about with the quality overall. It is hard-wired though, even though it looks detachable and I totally didn’t try yanking the damn thing off… whoops.

Durable

Despite flexing out to the point that it would fit someone with an American football for a head, the fit of the H3 is actually pretty fantastic. The ear cups have a great range of extension to them, as well as some pivot to provide a good fit. They don’t rotate inward, but at this price, I’m not going to feel too beaten up about that.

Should I Buy One?

Honestly, they’re not perfect, but at this price range, find me a headset that is. For just under £50, it’s by far one of the most competitive headsets out there right now though. It looks great, it sounds decent, and it’s fairly priced.

Sorry, you’re upset with your (affordable) headset, but this is still one of the better sounding ones in this price range.
