ASUS TUF Gaming RX 5600 XT OC Review

A Closer Look

The ASUS TUF Gaming series of products all have a very similar theme. Anything branded “TUF” should match visually, which is fantastic. That includes their partner products from the TUF Gaming Alliance too. The cooler is quite large, measuring 28.26 x 11.58 x 5.38cm. That’s around a 2.7 slot design, so may not fit in some slimmer case designs or mini-ITX builds.

The card uses an Axial-tech fan design. There’s a smaller fan hub allowing for longer fan blades, as well as a ring at the edges of the fan to keep the downward air pressure in check. There’s a smaller fan in the centre, with two larger ones on the ends. Of course, zero RPM mode kicks in at low load, while each of the other fans spins as they’re required to minimise noise and heat respectively.

The card features a sing 8-pin PSU connector, which is pretty modest compared to some older AMD GPUs that were more power-hungry. Hurray for improved efficiency! ASUS recommends at least a 450w PSU, but that doesn’t take into consideration your CPU requirements, obviously.

Down the side of the card, you’ll find part of the massive heatsink exposed to allow for extra airflow. There’s also a little bit of detail on the shroud, as well as a small hint of RGB.

The backplate looks fantastic, featuring the TUF Gaming digital camo design matched up with some matte black. This heatsink will also help keep the card rigid, while also providing additional cooling performance. Oh, and it looks cool too, which is always a nice bonus.

Finally, at the rear of the card, you’ll find four video connections, three DisplayPort 1.4 and 1 x HDMI 2.0b. All are HDCP 1.4/2.3 compliant.
