ASUS TUF Gaming VG279 Gaming Monitor Review

A Closer Look

The monitor comes with a nice stand that fits with a single screw. It features something I really like, 360-degree rotation. I mean, you wouldn’t need it, but I like that there’s no limit. I’d pick that G-Sync sticker off though, it’s not on straight and I hate that.

Some lovely tough rubber grips on the base too. I like that slight wedge shape to it too.

The back part is pre fitted to the monitor, so it really is a single thumbscrew and it’s assembled.

Love that neat little TUF Gaming logo there. No silly RGB back here, just a nice design.

That digital ASUS texture is on the sides too.

Rear controls, with four easy to use buttons all clearly indexed thanks to their unique shapes.

The top one is a nice directional control which can also be clicked by pushing; these are great for working through the OSD.

On the bottom, we’ve got the power, as well as a pair of HDMI ports.

There’s a single DisplayPort and the audio jack here, plus a USB port for the OSD, which can pull FPS, and other system statistic onto the overlay.

The monitor has an exceptional range of adjustment too, with a mount that allows it to be rotated to a vertical position.

Even in vertical mode, it has a good range of tilt too.

It can be tilted back until it contacts with the stand at the back. The same is true with tilting it forward.

It uses a friction slider at the back, so you can just pull or push it to adjust the height.

Plus, there are some small decals at the front to remind you of the buttons hiding behind the monitor.

Overall, this is one fantastic looking monitor and now it’s time to test it!
