ASUS has just announced their brand-new Prime MR120 series of case fans, aiming to deliver a mix of quiet operation and impressive cooling, all wrapped up in a rather fetching design that should certainly add a touch of flair to any PC build. These new fans are designed to keep your components chilled while ensuring your rig remains whisper-quiet. Thanks to PWM control and a wider RPM range, the MR120 series promises to stay incredibly quiet during light tasks, only ramping up the cooling power when you really push your system with demanding applications. ASUS claims the MR120 Standard model has a maximum noise output of just 21 dB(A). The MR120 Reverse model is similarly muted, maxing out at 23 dB(A). The Reverse model is a particularly neat idea for those who want their interior-facing fans to really show off their RGB, as it presents unobstructed fan blades while still keeping the noise down.
The MR120 series achieves this delicate balance of low noise and effective cooling thanks to its somewhat thicker 28 mm frame. This clever design choice allows for wider blades, leading to higher static pressure, ideal for pushing air deep into the nooks and crannies of your PC. The Standard MR120 model boasts up to 58 CFM of airflow and 1.7 mmH₂O of static pressure, giving it plenty of grunt to handle airflow resistance and prevent heat build-up. The Reverse model isn’t far behind, offering up to 58 CFM and 1.38 mmH₂O static pressure.
Each fan features 20 addressable RGB LEDs and a clever double-layer LED Matrix design. This means you get a radiant ring of light around the blades, plus an evenly emitted square of illumination on both sides of the fan frame. Essentially, your fan’s colours will be on full display from every angle. And of course, all these lights are Aura Sync-compatible, allowing you to control and coordinate their look with other Aura Sync RGB components via the ASUS Armoury Crate software. The MR120 Standard and Reverse models are available in both black and white, and you can pick them up in single or triple packs to best suit your case’s needs.
