ASUS Unveils ROG Crosshair X870E Glacial and Dark Neo Motherboards for AMD AM5 Platform

ASUS has revealed two new flagship motherboards for the AM5 socket — the ROG Crosshair X870E Glacial and ROG Crosshair X870E Dark Neo.

Designed to fully unleash the power of the AMD Ryzen 9000 processors, these boards aim for top-tier performance while introducing new innovations in cooling and design.

The Glacial model stands out immediately for its all-white aesthetic, making it perfect for high-end themed builds. However, its true strength lies in its impressive specifications.

It features a robust 26 to 28-phase VRM power system and a 5-inch LCD display built into the I/O cover, which can monitor system stats in real time or display custom animations.

The board also includes a 3D vapor chamber in its main M.2 slot heatsink, integrated with heat pipes. This technology is essential for keeping the new PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSDs cool, as they can reach high temperatures under load.

Additionally, it supports DDR5 memory speeds above 8000 MT/s and up to 256 GB of RAM.

The Dark Neo, an evolution of the popular Dark Hero line, features a sleek black design that appeals to enthusiasts who prefer a more discreet look. Despite its darker aesthetic, it maintains the same overclocking capabilities and advanced cooling solutions as the Glacial model.

Both boards include USB4 connectivity, full PCIe 5.0 support, and EZ DIY features that simplify assembly for advanced PC builders.

With this launch, ASUS reaffirms its dominance in the motherboard segment — this time for AMD’s AM5 platform.

These new models are expected to be showcased at CES 2026, where ASUS will continue to demonstrate why it remains one of the most respected names in high-performance PC hardware.

In other news, soaring DDR5 RAM prices, driven by massive AI demand, are causing significant drops (40-50%) in motherboard sales.
