The ASUSTOR AS6302T which we tested today can be yours for £368.56 or $379.28 through Amazon UK and US.

Overview

When compared to previous ASUSTOR reviews, there was no exception when testing the AS6302T. It was a quality experience with a premium product. Quality hardware, backed by a good operating system.

The design of the NAS follows the previous units, so it’s difficult to spot the exact model from just looking at it. That’s a feature which I like, especially when it comes to the drive trays. Having them interchangeable with other ASUSTOR devices is a bonus that makes migration tasks easier. But not just migration, with the MyArchive function, there’s a good chance that you already have an extra stack of drive trays. The rear side is where the differences are noticeable through the connection options.

The AS6302T features a USB 3.0 Type-C port for easy connection of modern devices. This could be your mobile phone, but also storage drives, docking stations, card readers, and much more. You also get a HDMI 2.0 port for direct 4K UHD output with 60Hz. The upgraded CPU, in comparison with the previous models, also helps with this. In combination with the dual-channel memory, you’ll get a perfect and fluent 4k 60Hz experience.

While there are additions, there is one feature that’s gone. There are no eSATA connections available on the AS6302T. With USB 3.0 available, it’s not the biggest loss. But USB can’t deliver the same performance as a native eSATA connection can.

Along with the AS6302T comes ADM 3.0, the latest version of the company’s operating system. It is a large upgrade that hugely improves the experience and compatibility. Especially when it comes to various display resolutions. It wasn’t bad before, not at all, but it’s better now.

With the HDMI port and support for direct usage, the AS6302T can replace your HTPC as well as your media player. An optional IT remote can also be had to complete the multimedia experience.

Pros:

  • Powerful CPU and Dual-Channel RAM
  • USB 3.0 Type-C and Type-A ports
  • Dual Gigabit Ethernet with Aggregation ability
  • HDMI 2.0 for 4K 60Hz output
  • Direct usage with keyboard, mouse, and IR support
  • Powerful OS with a familiar mobile OS feeling

Cons:

  • no eSATA port on this model

“Improved hardware, the latest connection types, and a new operating system are just some of the features that make the ASUSTOR AS6302T a great choice.”
