Asustor Readying New AS50 and AS70 Series NAS Systems

Asustor is getting ready to release a long list of new NAS devices based on Intel Core and Bay Trail processors to cover a wider market area. The new NAS devices for the family and professional users will be the AS5002T, AS5004T, AS5008T and AS5010T. They will be based upon Intel Bay Trail series Celeron dual-core processors and features 2, 4, 8 and 10-bay respectively. The new AS50 series hasn’t been officially announced yet, but the images here show a previous exposure by VRZone.

Small to medium enterprises and power users might also find the new AS5102T, AS5104T, AS5108T, AS5110T and AS7004T models very appealing. They will be based on Intel Core i3 processors for the 70 series while the 51 models will use Intel Bay Trail again. These new models haven’t been formally introduced either.

The new 9 and 12 bay rackmount NAS models have however just been introduced, and they look like some really sweet devices for enterprise use. The AS7009RD and AS7012RD are based upon the Intel Core i3-4330 3.5GHz dual-core processor with 4MB cache. Out of the box they come with 4GB UDIMM DDR3 memory but are expandable up to 32GB over 4 modules. They feature four Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 ports for the network connections with failover and link-aggregation.

Additional external storage and devices can be connected via four USB 3.0 and two eSATA ports and maintenance can be performed via the built-in VGA and HDMI 1.4a port. The new NAS models have official support for 6TB HDDs for a total of up to 54 or 72TB storage. Redundant power supplies and two expansion slots for 10GbE or SAS Cards further increase the functionality.

The AS7009RDX and AS7012RDX feature almost the same specification as the above but are instead based upon the Intel Xeon E3-1245v3 3.4GHZ quad-core processor with 8MB cache.

All the new models use Asustor’s also new ADM 2.3 operating system to provide reliable functionality and performance. Some of the features include 2-way transfer support for Rsync, FTP, cloud (Amazon S3) and external backup systems. It includes refreshed graphics and a variety of new enterprise features such as proxy server connections, TFTP support, Windows ACL and SMB 2.0. The last one, SMB 2.0, helps to increase windows file transfers performance by 30-50% over the predecessor. Of course, the features can be expanded via the App central with functions such as mail and VPN servers, Google Drive storage, surveillance centre and much more.

The Asustor AS70R series devices are now shipping globally and come with a 3-year warranty.
